Mental Health Awareness Month!

Mental Health Awareness Month

Established by the Mental Health America Organisation in 1949,  Mental Health Awareness Month is celebrated every May.  Highlighting the importance and impacts of mental health and wellness in Americans, Mental Health Awareness Month is often observed with books, media, events, and film.

Mental Health & Youth

In adolescence, a core environmental cause of mental distresses is stress.  Pressures coming from school or work demands may affect youth mental health greatly.  Mental health may also be affected by trauma, social disrupts, or genetics.  Watch out for the common symptoms of mental distress around you, including feelings of inadequacy, inability to concentrate, and changes to overall behaviour or habits.

Get Involved

Support the cause by joining a virtual mental health discussion or donating to mental health organisations.  Share your Mental Health Story or take a mental health screening.  Many authors publish books for this month, pick one up at your local library!
